28 Oct Luke Morris treats his hometown fans with one-off Port Lincoln Show
SINCE making the move from Port Lincoln to Byron Bay in 2012 to begin his music career local indi/folk artist Luke Morris has released his first album and supported artists like Holy Holy, The Rubens and Mia Dyson alongside a string of his own national headline shows.
He is now looking froward to getting back to Port Lincoln later this month to test some of the tunes for his new album, due out some time next year.
Morris said the past six years had been a lot of hard work but the work was starting to pay off.
After watching his career grow, he said it was good to be in a position to tour and make music for a living.
It’s been a lot of hard work but it’s starting to pay off now.
Morris followed up the late 2014 release of his nine-track album Sugarcane Road with the release of his single I was Somewhere Else in 2015 and in 2016 he released When It All Goes Down, both of which featured on Triple J and were added to rotation on Triple J Unearthed.
Following the release, he was invited to play at the iconic Blues And Roots Festival and Splendour in the Grass festival.
He said being invited to play at festivals had been a great opportunity and he had enjoyed the chance to hang out with so many other bands.
In between touring nationally, Morris has been working alongside friends and producers recording a collection of new music to be released later in 2016/2017.
“At the moment I’m just planning everything for next year.”
But he is taking time out from preparing the new album to come back to Port Lincoln for a local show in a couple of weeks.
Morris is playing a one-off show at the Port Lincoln Yacht Club with Joshy Willlo and other special guests on Friday, November 18.
He is looking forward to meeting up with old friends while he is back in his home town and sharing some new music.
“The full band will be playing and we’ll try out a lot of new songs that are going to be on the new record.
“It will be the first time I’ve played a lot of them (for a live audience).”
Tickets for the show are now available online at oztix.com.au and in Port Lincoln at Lincoln Surf.
